Roger Family

I found this field of poppies and took some friends up their and they let me practice taking family pictures. I'm not sure if I like the processing on these so any feedback would be great.

Where have I been?

I know a lot of you have been wondering where I have disappeared to. And here it is.
I took the test on April 3 and about a week later morning sickness began. I lost all motivation to touch my camera or the computer. I just have no desire almost to the point that it makes me sick to actually mess with it (weird huh). I bought a program to calibrate my monitor and I have had it for a week and haven't touched it (normally I would use it the minute it arrives). Presently the computer is only useful to me as a means to watch tv as I lay in my chair trying to will the sickness away. So basically from 8-12 in the morning I can't function then it's time to work on cleaning, except I am too tired to do that (I can't wait to be in my 2nd trimester). I'm about 9 wks and will go to the doctor on May 7 for my first appointment. I'm really hoping that I do better with this pregnancy than I did with G and so far so good. Poor G is trapped in the house as I have no desire to leave since I don't want to get ready for the day, on the other hand she is learning to play by herself in her room which has been a great development (And we are saving so much money on gas). Pete's super excited and has been wonderful trying to help as much as he can. So lets hope that in the next couple of weeks I can come back to the world of the living. Thanks for thinking of me and your concern.

T and J's wedding

I decided to take my camera to their wedding and see how I could do. It was much more difficult than I thought. The lighting conditions were difficult as we were out in full sun light. So I really struggled with harsh shadows. This is were I definately need to understand exposure. I started out shooting in manual but my settings were all over the place so I gave up and switched to ap mode. How do you shoot manual when all you have to do is turn to the left or right just a bit and the lighting situation changes. That was really tough to work with. I also just had to grab what I could while the photographers were doing their pictures and man that was tough working around them. Here are just a few of my favorites. I'm still working on the rest and I got more candid shots than anything else. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. I'm not sure if I would be interested in wedding photography as it seems like a lot of work and there's a lot of people you have to work around. But I sure had fun. Thanks for looking and any cc would be appreciated.

Duck pond

I wasn't going to post tonight but I was going through these pictures and really like the way they turned out so here they are. Thanks for all your cc on my previous post. It's great to have a place to go to get opinions on different processing techniques. Plus you all are teaching me so much.

Spring Time Love!!

Ok first off something I played with today. I really loved this picture and did a couple plays. What do you think and which pping do you like the best? Click to view larger.

And now for my POTD. I went to the zoo today and thought I would find something really great for my POTD little did I know what I was going to find. I tend to find the crocodiles to be pretty boring (they are never doing anything) but dd loves them (don't know why) so we went to the reptile exhibit. Were checking stuff out and I look over and see this crocodile so I snap a picture.

"Wait what's that under the crocodile? It's another crocodile. What's that croc doing on top of the other croc? Hmmm"

"Hmm I'm not sure that croc looks very happy with that other croc on top."

"Wait a minute they are swaying. That croc on top sure seems to have a pretty good hold of the one on bottom. Wow, they are really moving." (kid next to me) "Mommy are they wrestling?" (mother) "Yes, that's what crocs do this time of year." "DOH!"

"Wow that went on for quite some time. Finished?."

Apparently cuddling is not required in the animal kingdom. Sorry these pictures aren't great. I was shooting through glass with a poor lense in a low light situation. But I couldn't pass up this opportunity. Who would thought this is what I would capture at the zoo today, with croc's no less. I really wanted to find some Barry White to put on my blog tonight to set the mood, Ha Ha. But it was to much work so I will let you imagine that.

Thanks for all the wonderful CC you gave on those pictures and for everyone that played with PPing the one. It was fun to see your takes and get some ideas.

Strawberries

I bought some strawberries today and thought they fit for spring (going outside still looks like fall). I really had a hard time pping these, I wanted to do a color pop but just couldn't get it to look right. So I tried the overexposed look. I know there was lots of talk about it but I like the look. Though I really wish I could figure out how to do a nice color pop. Thanks for all the CC you gave yesturday. I really appreciate it.
